Registering the death and appointing a funeral director. They will guide the rest, and most families find they carry more of it than expected.
Who do you need to notify?
Immediate family first, in an order you decide, then wider family, employer, and the practical list of banks and services. Delegate the second half.
How do you let people help?
Name specific tasks. People genuinely want to help and cannot guess — food, transport, phone calls and childcare are the usual ones.
